Language Arts: Tuesday, May 31

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Your virtual assignment for tomorrow is to make sure your final magazines and your group are ready to present to the class on Wednesday.  You will have some time at the beginning of class to make last minute corrections, but everything should be edited and ready to go.  Wednesday’s presentation and final product are worth 40 points.  The breakdown is like this:

10 points: individual and group effort 10 points: 21c skills  10 points: design/layout 10 points: content

See you soon :o)

Greetings, everyone.

It's our last full week of school!  Here is what we'll be doing:

Monday: begin magazine layouts and ad designs

Tuesday: study for vocabulary quiz, write final versions of articles, and work on ads if possible.

Wednesday: vocabulary quiz and finalize magazines

Thursday-Tuesday: all staff members edit magazines for errors.  Monday is a holiday, so you have until Tuesday to do this.  You will present your final magazines to the class on Wednesday (our last day of class).

Hi everyone,

1. Please submit your FINAL position statement on Room 21, even if you think I already have it. I want to grade it on Room 21 to test out their rubric.

2. On your Room 21 blog, post a (minimum three-paragraph) reflection on your participation in Monday's Socratic Seminar. How did you add to the conversation? What did you learn or think about because of your peers? What do you think went well? What could have been better? How did you use 21st Century Skills to plan for and participate in the discussion? The journal is due by the end of the day on Tuesday, though the assignment will be posted until Friday.

Aloha,

Ms. Fordyce

Advisory: May 9-11

Hi everyone,

Graduation is in less than three weeks!  Keep working your hardest to complete everything on time, and to the best of your ability.  Here are a few things you should know:

  • Rachel Rishovd is hosting a movie night at school on Tuesday as part of her senior project.  It will be from 6-8 p.m. and she is collecting canned goods and other donations for the homeless.

  • You will need to submit your tech products for next week’s exhibition night by Thursday, May 12 (this week).  Check your email for more details.

  • Remember, exhibitions are one week from tomorrow.  Make sure your work is ready and you know when you are supposed to present.

The staff is here to support you and help you reach your goals.  If you need help, ask now!

Aloha,

Ms. Fordyce
